CCBC: A Brief History
1966 - The Community College of Beaver County is founded in Freedom, PA. The College leases floors of the Freedom National Bank and 17 vacant storefronts for classrooms and offices.
1971 - CCBC moves its headquarters to Center Township, PA.
1973 - The Allied Health Building, housing the nursing programs and the Campus Childcare Center, is added.
1976 - The Golden Dome, a geodesic recreational facility and one of the most recognizable symbols of CCBC and Beaver County, is built.
1990 - The Aviation Sciences Center, located at the Beaver County Airport in Chippewa Township, is added to house the College’s successful Aviation Sciences program.
1997 - Construction of CCBC’s Library Resource Center is completed.
2001 - The Beaver Technology Education Center (BTEC), a branch of CCBC’s Continuing Education Division opens its doors at the Aviation Sciences Center.
2002 - CCBC becomes county sponsored, a new nine-member Board of Trustees, is appointed, and tuition becomes $73 county-wide, making the Community College of Beaver County, the most affordable choice for higher education in Beaver County.
