Session 4

Session 4: Wide Area Network Management / WAN Design

Students studying in lab

Semester 4 of the Cisco Networking Academy program deals with Wide Area Network Management and design. Students will learn how to configure a router with more security involved, as well as implementing additional protocols to create a much more secure network environment. Our lab consists of 25 Cisco 2500-series routers and 10 Catalyst 1900-series switches. Students will have a lot of hands-on experience like the previous semesters and will not need to purchase any equipment. Once the student completes this final semester, he/she should have a solid understanding of networking and network management and also be prepared to take the CCNA Exam.

Other topics discussed are:
  • WANs and WAN Design
  • Point-To-Point Protocol (PPP)
  • Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)
  • Frame Relay
  • Network Management
