Session 2 of the Cisco Networking Academy focuses on the router and how it functions in networking. The router is a very crucial piece of hardware that allows networks to communicate with one another. Session 2 gives the student valuable hands-on study with the router and how to program it. Basic router configuration is done by the student along with learning how to troubleshoot common problems. Being able to program a router and diagnose problems within the router is highly desired in corporations today because a network administrator can take advantage of the router's operating system and provide crucial security involving incoming and outgoing network traffic.
The Cisco Academy Lab at CCBC currently has 25 Cisco 2500-series routers which gives the students access to his/her own router for programming purposes. Everyone enrolled will learn how to set up the attached equipment to the router(s), how to build a basic router configuration file and create a subnetwork solution which will allow 5 routers to successfully communicate with one another.
