In the first session of the Cisco Networking Academy, students learn the basics of Networking with detailed analysis of the OSI Model. Each of the seven layers of the OSI Model are examined in detail to help students understand how information flows from a computer system, through a network, the Internet and to another system.
Students learn how data is transmitted through a network, how the information flows and how information is "broken up" for travel. Students also learn how to construct a network by deciding where equipment should be placed, how wiring should be analyzed and even how to construct different types of wire. Hands-on assignments include wiring diagrams, troubleshooting and testing wire, how to solve wiring problems and how to run wire in a network.
